KABUL: The United Nations High Commissioner for refugees has expressed concern in rapid migration under the Taliban government from Afghanistan to neighboring countries such as Iran.
A senior UN official urged the Emirates of Islam and the international community to find the ‘modus operandi’ to overcome the current crisis in Afghanistan, according to Tolo News.
Furthermore, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi warned that the collapse of the country’s economy would trigger a wave of massive migration to neighboring countries and the world.
“In the end, the Taliban, who controls the current country, and the international community and its entities need to find modus operandi, need to interlope, need to make the necessary steps for it to happen,” he told the UN Security Council.
“Taliban is of course by conveying very important problems of women’s rights, women at work, minority rights – and the international community by supporting it because it is necessary, the function of the state and all this for the sake of the Afghans,” he added .
The United Nations and other humanitarian organizations express large concerns over the decline of life conditions in Afghanistan because thousands of people still lack access to the right shelter in winter, according to the Tolo News.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Afghanistan said that more than 1,000 Afghans had illegally crossed the border to Iran.
However, it is believed that the establishment of a strong economic system can overcome the current situation in Afghanistan in addition to assistance from foreign donors.
According to UNHCR, 3.4 million Afghan refugees live in Iran, including two million deficiencies of legal documents.
