Ahmedabad: The Supreme Court has ordered the Gujarat government to frame parking policies in two weeks, making him bind all city companies to solve parking and traffic problems.
While asking the government to formulate parking policies, the APEX court made observations about the absence of public parking spaces in Gujarat cities.
It is said, “it cannot be debated that the problem of traffic in Metropolitan cities in the state of Gujarat is a very serious problem because of the illness of public parking and even enough parking spaces in the mall and other markets.

This problem has reached SC in August 2019 when Surat Rahulraj Mall Co-Op.
Society Ltd filed an appeal against the Gujarat High Court decision that the Mall, Multiplex, and Commercial Complex could not pick up parking charges at visitors.
Mall Management has questioned the Municipal Corporation’s decision to allow mal-malls to demand visitors to parking facilities after the first hour of vehicle parking, said Advocate Mall Kumaresh Trivedi.
When SC asked the country about parking policy, the government proposed that policy decisions had been taken “to adopt parking policies adopted by Municipal Corporation letters”.
SC is not convinced and confirms, “There is no different policy decision for different companies.
The government must come out with shared guidelines or notifications under the City Planning Law or below the General Development Control Regulations.” Disputes emerged after the HC judge bench Order the government to make parking policies and direct commercial malls and complexes to provide free parking facilities to visitors.
The mall was asked to impose a fee from the second hour – Rs 10 for two-wheeled and Rs 30 for four-wheeled vehicles.
However, the division bench in HC, takes orders and is held that there is no provision in which the mall and commercial complex can collect visitors to park.
