Hyderabad: Hyderabad, Hub Mission, will get a fresh boost for making defense after the announcement in the union budget that 68 percent of the capital for the defense sector will be intended for the local industry.
This is 10 percent of what is allocated before.
“Hyderabad will be a natural choice for the planned expansion of various aerospace and defense industrial giants.
Available infrastructure will spur further manufacturing with existing units that are directly or indirectly related to the defense sector,” Praveen, Director, Aerospace and Defense, Government Telangana, said.
The majority of the defense industry is located in and around the city and is closer to the outer ring road.
The new policy of the center will now provide a boost for local manufacturing based on units along the proposed regional ring road.
“While we have shown the convenience of doing business, what is also important is ‘ease of logistics’.
Compared to other cities, Hyderabad has this advantage,” said Praveen.
Because of Hyderabad’s advantage, several companies based in Bengaluru are looking at Hyderabad for their expansion plan.
It is estimated that 1,000 units in and around Hyderabad are engaged in defense manufacturing.
Announcement that the industry, start-up and academics can participate in the R & D defense with a 25 percent budget provided for them is also something industrial.
