Prayagraj: The National Swaphh Bharat Program was launched in Sangam City on Friday by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, youth and sports, Thakur’s anurag.
Organized to commemorate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, this campaign aims to remove waste kilograms throughout the country on October 31.
The campaign was being held through a network of 744 youth clubs affiliated with Nehru Yuva Kendra Tekraan (NYKS) Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs (Indian Government), and institutions affiliated with the National Service Scheme (NSS).
It was being carried out at 2.5 lakh villages spread across 744 districts throughout the country.
During the program held at Mnnit, Prasagraj, Thakur said, “The country celebrates Indian independence 75 years, and therefore, we must vow to make our country free of plastic waste.” The minister said he was happy to start the Swachh Bharat program from Sangam City, and that the message from here would inspire the entire country.
“The purpose of this campaign is to create awareness, mobilize and ensure the participation of people throughout the country in waste disposal, especially plastic waste single use,” Minister said.
