Unique Farewell for Fine Art Teachers

Vadodara: Farewell offers usually involve cake cutting, giving gifts, bouquets and emotional speeches.
But the Faculty of Fine Arts University of the University is famous for providing artistic farewell to the generation of retirement teachers from the faculty in 2020-21.
The faculty on Saturday inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Party Farewell’ featuring Ng Vijay Bagodi, Vasudevan Akkitham and Jayanti Rabadiya.
The three belongs to many referring to the ‘third generation’ faculty teachers.
Everything was trained under the second generation teachers – Gulacmohammed Sheikh, Jyoti Bhatt, Nasreen Mohammedi, Pattern Patel, P D Dhumal and Ratung Parimoo, among others.
“The shadow of the first generation of Baroda artists who towered – Pedagog KB Subramanyan has touched them all one direction or others,” said Dr.
Jayaram Poduval, leading the Dean of the Faculty.
The trio has joined the faculty in the early 90’s.
While Vasudevan led the department of the painting, Bagodi led the graphics section while Rabadiya took over the murals.
“Their contribution to forming and directing the faculty in a rather challenging time cannot be exaggerated.
They continued their own studio practices and grew in stature as an artist for years,” Poduval said.
“We feel there is no better way to pay tribute to their teaching career, where they train and maintain many young artists, rather than by celebrating their own creations,” said Poduval.
About 30 trio artwork on display in the faculty exhibition hall until December 14.
