New Delhi: If you plan to register property in East Delhi with the Delhi Government Revenue Department, it would be better to first obtain a unique property identification code number (UPC) from East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).
After the Civic body approached the Delhi government to enter Upik among the documents needed for registration to bring all property details online, orders were issued by the government to implement the proposal.
“All sub-registrants in the area under the edmc jurisdiction with this are directed to use UPC during property registration on the pilot base to further orders,” said the order of the Delhi government signed by Akriti Sagar, Deputy Commissioner-II (Head Office), Delhi Government (Headquarters), Delhi, accessed by TOI.
Commissioner Edmc Vikas Anand said they would be the first in the city to implement the project.
“In addition to property registration, the UPC number will be needed for mutations, obtain licenses (health, general trade, factory, animal trade, etc.) and lease agreements conducted through the income department.
People who are not responsible for sending property tax or do not do it Deliberately will be discussed from now on, “he added.
In the long run, this initiative will bring more people under the tax network and enter property details, their status, etc.
online.
Previously, EDMC has asked the main secretary to implement the project.
Two other civil bodies have appealed similarly.
“This portal has been designed by the National Informatics Center.
There are provisions to capture upum numbers in software and there is no technical problem that will appear in including this detail,” said an EDMC official.
The Delhi government does not comment on this development.
The official added, “Part 21 of the registration law states that non-agreement documents relating to non-moving properties will not be accepted unless the description of these properties and the UPC number will facilitate this identification.” Earlier this year, EDMC has made mandatory online property tax payments.
“To pay property taxes, people need to get an UPC number first.
We send an upc number to 4.5 lakh properties,” Anand said.
So far, the 5.5 lakh property survey has been completed.
