Palghar: API that destroys the unit run by the Mandiri Women’s Assistance Group (SHG) in Wada in Palghar Maharashtra District two days ago has left the tribal labor there, an official said on Thursday.
Although no one was injured in the fire, the unit, which accommodated the sewing machine and stock of finished products, was fully destroyed, said Wada Tehsildar Uddhav Kadam to PTI.
The unit, which is operated by the OMAGEI Maharaj Ashirwadit Trust, has a tribal woman as its workforce and the destroyed items consist of a large order for Christmas, a SHG official said.
He said the unit, aged seven to eight years, produced material from waste and carpets and gift items.
“More than 60 tribal women are now unemployed.
However, compensation from the government is provided for damage caused by natural disasters and not an incident like this,” Kadam said.
