Unit formation of the US Department of Justice to fight domestic terrorism

WASHINGTON: Administration of President Joe Biden is to create a new unit in the Ministry of Justice to fight domestic terrorism after a deadly US capitol attack by supporters of former President Donald Trump, senior official said on Tuesday.
“We face a high threat from the extremist domestic violence – that is, individuals in the United States who are trying to commit criminal acts of violence in the continuation of domestic social or political objectives,” Matthew Olsen, Assistant Attorney General of the National Security Division Department, told hearing at The presence of the Senate Justice Committee.
“Extremists domestic violence is often motivated by a blend of ideology and personal complaints.
We have seen threats that develop from those who are motivated by Animus Race, as well as those who consider anti-government ideology and extremist anti-authority,” Olsen added.
Attorney General Merrick Garland told parliament members last May that extremist groups of domestic violence, especially white supremacy, pose a threat that developed into the United States.
Olsen said the new unit will be placed in the National Security Division and will work to “ensure that these cases are handled properly and coordinated effectively” throughout the country and throughout the country.
The Ministry of Justice has brought criminal demands against more than 725 people from January 6, 2021, Riot where Trump’s supporters tried to stop the Congress from declaring their loss in 2020 presidential elections.
Some defendants are members or those related to far or militia groups including proud boys, oath guards and three percent.
A top FBI official told Congress in November that the bureau did around 2,700 investigations related to domestic violence extremism.
