LONDON: Ralf Rangnick defends Cristiano Ronaldo after the reaction of Manchester United’s Petulant Star against his substitute gives a shadow over their 3-1 victory in Brentford on Wednesday.
Rangnick’s side indebted to David De Gea for the extraordinary first-half display that made Brentford at Bay before United finally jumped to life in West London.
Anthony Elanga put United in front of the second half before Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford wrapped up their first win in three Premier League matches.
But it was Ronaldo’sfooted response to Rangnick’s decision to transport him in the 71st minute which could prove last night.

Angry throwing his coat on the floor, Ronaldo pointed at his chest while his team-mate on the bench was nervous about turning away.
Rangnick initially ignored Ronaldo before sitting next to him and pat Portugal ahead at the foot when he tried to calm him down.
The 36-year-old strop will increase the new question about his willingness to enter the Rangnick system after the latest underwhelming appearance.

“It’s normal, he’s a striker and wants to score.
He returns from a little injury and for me, it’s important to remember we have another game in a few days,” said Rangnick.
“We went up 2-0, just like at Aston Villa.
I decided to defend that the lead this time and it was the right decision to move back to five.” United at least avoided other embarrassing results after losing at home for wolves and letting tin two goals slipped into a draw at Aston Villa in two previous league matches.

They pursued qualifications for the Champions League next season.
“I won’t say a strong conversation but obviously we have to change some things; our first round is not good in all aspects of the game,” said Rangnick from a message half-time to the players.
“We gave up almost every second ball.
In the second half we were more urgent, we attacked them high in the field.” Ronaldo, returned after losing two matches with hip problems, almost talented early goals when Jonas Lossl’s debutant guard dropped a cross at the foot forward, but the bee could scramble clearly.

The eagerly goes approaching Bryan Mbeumo, whose low kick forced De Gea was good.
Brentford was above and Mads Bech Sorensen saw his strike deflected to the mosquito nets from Bruno Fernandes.
Ivan Toney tore United’s defense, founded Mathias Jensen for a shot saved well by De Gea.
United could not have been worse in the opening period, but they played much more urgent after the interval.
Ronaldo almost gave them the advantage when he met Fernandes’s cross with a looping header to the bar.
It was Brentford’s warning who failed to heed and, after Toney went straight to De Gea, Swedish teenager Elanga made the host pay their profligation in the 55th minute.
Fred cut a pass to the Brentford area and the Elanga knocked the ball up in the air before passing pass lossl from close range.
The first goal of Elanga this season changed the mood fully and United crashed into the 62nd minute.
Brentford pulled in vain for offside, Fernandes surged to Ronaldo’s chest down and slipped to Greenwood, which was placed into a blank net for his first goal in seven matches.
After Ronaldo’s anger, it is definitely a relief for Rangnick that Rashford, in a substitute, applies United’s third goal with a good final from Pass Fernandes in the 77th minute.
Toney scored from close range at 85 minutes but was too late for Brentford.
