New York: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday voiced concerns over the recent developments in the Eswatini kingdom, especially clashes between security forces and demonstrators who had caused death and injury, said his spokesman.
The Secretary General repeated his call to all stakeholders to refrain from violence and overcome their differences through inclusive and meaningful dialogue, said Stephane Dujric, spokesman in a statement.
Guterres underlined the importance of allowing all Eswatini to run their civil and political rights peacefully and urged security forces to fully restrain, said the statement.
Guterres welcomed the latest efforts, led by the South African development community, to find a solution for the current situation.
The United Nations remains committed to working with the government and the people of Eswatini, and all partners, to ensure peaceful resolution, he said.
