Guwahati: Head of Minister of Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma on Friday said that the university must ensure that they produce students who can be employed.
He also said education, especially cultural studies, must include deductions of knowledge across geographical and time barriers.

He participated in a discussion about the Majuli Bill University of Culture Culture (Amandment), 2021, on the last day of the budget session.
Sarma said through the university, the state government plans to make the majuli the capital of the world culture.
Majuli is Assam Island district and is a prominent seat of Vaishnavite learning.
“Our goal is that people from outside must come to Majuli to learn about culture.
Takshashila and Nalanda are our models, where scholars from all over the world are used to meet,” he added, referring to a higher ancient Indian chair.
The main minister said it was not only the classical learning of India which had to form a part of the curriculum at the University of Majuli, but Western classical music and allied fields must also be taught.
“I will ask our education minister to bring other amendments to the next session to ensure that the culture of the world can be studied at this university,” he added.
He also eased the concerns expressed by opposition members during the discussion of the bill that the study of ethnic and local culture could take the back seat and music and the Indian classical music would be the focus on the university.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu also stated that culture, music, performing arts and allied subjects from not only Assam became the focus of the university, but from all over the northeast region.
The bill was later authorized by the sound.
