Kolkata: Calcutta University has been ranked above IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras in the latest academic ranking World Universities (Arwu) by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
Cu has been ranked second among the Indian Institute with only the Indian Science Institute, Bengaluru, positioned on it.
They were followed by the University of Banaras Hindu, University of Tiga Iels, Jawaharlal Nehru, University of Delhi, and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Last year, Calcutta University was ranked third among Indian institutions in Arwu.
Globally, IISC is ranked 401-500, while the numbers cu at 601st-700.
Bhu, Three IIT, JNU and Delhi University are ranked 701-800 and AIIMS ranked 801-900.
Pleased with Cu’s confession, Sonali Chakravarty Banerjee Chancellor said it was a great achievement for all the brotherhood of education in the state and editing faculty, research scholars, students and non-teaching staff to help Honor University bags.
“This recognition will inspire us to advance and reach a greater height,” he said.
Arwu 2021 was released on independence day.
More than 2,000 institutions have been studied this year and 1,000 of the best rankings.
Harvard University Peak global rank followed by Stanford and Cambridge.
