Kolkata: Students, who were disappointed when the entrance examination board with West Bengal canceled the entrance test at the Presidency University, now vigorously waiting for the Institute to reopen the process of applying to 16 undergraduate programs.
With WBJEEB has issued a notification of the refund of costs that candidates have paid the entrance test, the presidency now tends to complete the process and announce the application criteria for UG programs next week.
“Sustainable covid pandemic has made it difficult to carry out acceptance tests.
After the State Government decided to cancel all entrance checks, remembering the health and safety of students, the WBJee council was forced to memo acceptance test with the President despite collecting application costs and completing the formality,” said A high education department official.
He added that even the question letters had been prepared when the test was canceled.
“Now the WBJee board is set to restore the entrance test fee, the University presidency is likely to reopen the reception portal.
But the final decision will be taken at the University Acceptance Committee meeting,” the official said.
The Board recently asked students who had paid for the entrance test to submit a refund on July 31.
The University Presidency can only reopen its reception portal after the WBJee board cancels their previous notification to hold a receipt test, which was originally scheduled for 11 and 12 April and was postponed due to a pandemic.
“Acceptance of the same UG cannot have two notices.
Thus, the first must be canceled before we can issue.
We will then decide on the date to publish the reward list,” said the Debajyoti Registrar Presidency Konar.
Going with demand from the state government, the university will not charge any application.
Senior Bikash Bhavan official shows that because all government-managed universities have been instructed to open the UG receipt portal from August 2, the presidency cannot be an exception.
According to government direction, online applications must be completed on August 20 and the first list of achievements must be published on August 31.
The first semester class must start from October 1 last year, in the absence of an incoming test, the University presidency has recognized students based on the sign they have obtained on the X class X board and a higher Plus-II examination or equivalent (10 + 2 standards).
Over the past few years, the WBJee council has held a receipt test.
“This time, the reception committee must be careful while framing the criteria and write a formula to assess applicant’s achievement in the best way,” said an official.
Last year, the University Receipt Committee Presidency had included class X scores for providing an understanding of the overall share of candidates.
“In the absence of actual evaluation, the acceptance committee will write a similar formula when only those who are consistent in their performance will find a seat,” said a teacher.
