UNIVS to adopt NCC as a General Elective Credit Course

Lucknow: National Cadet Corps (NCC) will no longer remain extracurricular activities in higher education institutions in Uttar Pradesh.
The state government has requested universities, including those carried out by private management, to adopt it as a General Options Credit Course (GECC) under the CBC-based credit system (CBC) from the upcoming session (2021-22).
This step is in consentance with 2020 national education policies where students can choose their subjects rather than limited to those offered by the institution.
“This step will make holistic learning and skills-oriented The order states that while at first the NCC elective course will be offered to NCC’s cadet only during the period of time it will be opened for students who want to learn it as a subject.
“Students proud to take Indians should not be limited to the mind but must be seen in their actions, knowledge and moral values.
The NCC does not only provide discipline, but also instills the feelings of patriotism and open the work road,” the command rang.
This step will benefit around 1.50 lakh cadets registered at the university and college above, said Colonel Ak Singh, coordination official, NCC, for the Directorate.
“The syllabus is in the final stage.
All students who register as NCC cadets will benefit from getting academic credit for NCC training in addition to obtaining a NCC certificate,” said Col Singh.
The committee led by the Director of Higher Education with representatives from the NCC Directorate and the Associate NCC Officer (ANO) has been formed to resolve his siblings.
