Until 50% discount in water tax to beat floods in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: Consumers A total of 3,620 water connections from the city of Kolhapur affected by the flood in July this year will get a concession of up to 50% in a water tax bill.
Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has made a decision to provide assistance to residents of the flood-affected areas.
In July, the unprecedented floods occurred and Panchganga river water entered most of the city.
Water supply to these areas was stopped and continued after two weeks.
Prashant Plamat, the KMC Water Tax Supervisor, “We conducted a survey through our meter reader.
A similar concession was given to those affected by flooding in August 2019.
The KMC will face the loss of income around Rs 8.83 lakh because of the decision.” Department of water supply has uploaded a list of connection holders, which will benefit from the decision.
KMC, however, appealed to residents that if their names were lost from the list of beneficiaries and they were also influenced by flooding in accordance with the survey conducted by the Regency Revenue Department, they could approach the KMC to take advantage of the concessions to be given in the June-July billing cycle.
Such residents must produce documents to receive concessions.
The Department of Water Supply has been cleaned that concessions will be given to the June-July billing cycle alone and not in contributions and previous fines.
Of 3,620 connections, 3,448 connections are household connections, 150 stores and 22 connections provided for livestock warehouses.
Most domestic connections come from the city environment, which are worst affected due to flooding.
