UOH see a 5-fold leap in a foreign application number

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad has seen a five-fold increase in the number of applications received from the Council of India for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to enter various programs with the University of Academic Year 2021-22.
While the university received a total of 1,512 applications from ICCR, 45 other applications received from independent foreign nationals.
UOH, recognizes qualified students through Indian government institutions such as ICC, studies in India, Saarc State, and international students who support themselves for various courses at the university.
Deputy Chancellor Professor UOH B Jagadeeshwar Rao said happiness at a large number of applications received this year.
“UOH is the preferred goal for higher studies for some foreign nationals.
We see this as a positive indicator in line with the Institute of Eminence University status and NEP 2020,” Rao said.
Niva Kumar, director of international affairs, said Uoh’s academic unit, after consideration of carefully selecting 129 foreign nationals this year for various courses from the ICCR application received.
Until now, 31 students (nine for PhD and 22 for the Masters program – 13 girls and 18 boys) have received to join UOH, and some are expected to accept.
Students come from countries such as Syria, Yemen, Uganda, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sudan, Jordan, South Africa, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Nepal, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Indonesia, Swaziland, Iraq, Botswana, Eritrea.
“The acceptance process is still alive for the application of independent students in this academic year, which is likely to increase the number of foreign nationals in this academic year,” Kumar added that this was also a way forward for the IOE program from UOH, which aims to improve internationalization.
In addition, the UOH team also received a European Commission grant entitled ‘Harmony’ for three years on the topic of “Strategy for Internationalization of Higher Education in Asian countries”, a project coordinated by Kumar, with Professor Vinod Pavarala, R Rao Prabhakar, Prabhakar Rao , Aparna Rayaprol and S Shaji as a team member.
UOH has a new hostel designated for foreign nationals with 50 single residential rooms, and two new international hostel buildings are also being built.
Students who have implemented Hail from various countries such as Syria, Yemen, Uganda, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sudan, Jordan, South Africa, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Nepal, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Indonesia, Botswana, Iraq, Botswana , and Eritrea among others.
