Lucknow: Continuing the crackdown on corruption in accordance with the policy of zero tolerance of the state government, anti-corruption organization (ACO) Uttar Pradesh police arrested 139 officers who were not set on charges of graft this year since January.
The Director General of Police hit Gelel said that the crackdown by ACO had removed corrupt officers from the system other than sending a strong message that corruption would not be accepted in any form.
“We will not allow corruption in the system at any level,” he said.
DGP connects the arrest to the head of Yogi Yogi Adyityath of Zero tolerance against corruption.
Last year, ACO had arrested 175 government officials for corruption practices, Gelel added.
As per the record, the anti-corruption unit official put 20 traps since January and arrested red hand officials.
There are two police personnel and 18 employees from other government departments, including education, district administration, Nagar Nigam etc., among those arrested.
Recently, three government officials, RAM Milan Sub-Inspector Yadav, the auditor in the Department of Education Vinay Kumar and Lekhpal Moral Singh were arrested with red hands in circumstances.
All three were arrested in one day.
Police Supervisors, Aco, Rajiv Mehrotra, said, “A total of 105 officials were arrested under the prevention of corruption laws and 13 on charges of others, while 20 were arrested with red hands.” Mehrotra further told Tii, “Even today, we called Red Dinesh Yadav sub-inspector demanding RS 10,000 bribery from a complainant who has registered a criminal intimidation case in the Kotwali region.
In addition, in an effort to encourage people to report corruption by government officials , the establishment of vigilance has launched an anti-bribery helpline dedicated.
Helpline number (9454401866) will be available starting at 10:00 to 6pm to provide information about corruption while the name of the complainant will be kept secret.
