Varanasi: At least five people were killed while others suffered serious injuries when their car traveled colliding with a truck in Jaunpur District Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning.
The accident took place near Trilochan Makada bypass in the Jalalpur region.
The deceased has been identified as Nankau Singh (45), Hausala Prasad (54), Chhotu Singh, Anugrah Pratap Singh (17) and her sister Prabhu Dev (14), all residents of Sikrara Village in Jaunpur.
Rajbir Singh’s injured person rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was referred to the trauma center of the Hindu University of Banaras.
They returned home after attending a wedding ceremony in the Chandauli District when the accident occurred.
The truck driver escaped from the scene after the accident.
The police have reached the place after getting information and starting the rescue operation.
SP (City), Sanjay Kumar, said the bodies were sent for postmortem and their family members were told about the incident.
The police tried to find the escape truck driver.
