LUCKNOW: The sustained decline in new cases and rise in recoveries saw the state’s burden of active infections falling below the10,000 mark on Saturday.
According to Covid-19 status report, UP is left with 9,806 active cases which is comparable to the situation on March 31.
Of these, over 5,800 are under home isolation.
Nearly 50% of the districts in UP have 100 or less number of active cases.
In fact, three districts – Kaushambi (3), Mahoba (6) and Hamirpur (7) – have active cases in the single digit.
Likewise, in 15 districts, the burden of active cases is less than 50 cases.
Officials also said that Lucknow (454), Gorakhpur (428), Azamgarh (384), Meerut (340) and Prayagraj (302) are the only districts with 300-plus active cases.
Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad, said that as many as 524 new cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hour, taking the total number of cases reported in the state to 17,02,192.
Of the total cases, 16,70,631 have recovered showing a recovery rate of 98.1%.
ACS, information, Navneet Sehgal, said that the pattern speaks for the success of the state’s strategy of trace, test and treat.
He also said that the state’s daily test positivity rate was 0.19% which is one of the lowest in the country.
He also pointed out that the state was working hard to boost vaccination as well.
An official statement said that the cumulative doses administered by the state has crossed the 2.25-crore mark.
This includes 1.87 crore first dose beneficiaries and 37.63 lakh fully vaccinated persons.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already issued orders to set up special booths for street vendors and drivers from Monday, which is likely to increase the pace of vaccination.
Preparations are being done on a war-footing to inoculate these vulnerable sections of the society in each district so as to eliminate vaccine hesitancy among them and their families.
