PRAYAGRAJ: The UP Board has received about 4,000 suggestions to prepare the results of more than 56 lakh students registered for high school and intermediate examinations of 2021.
The board had sought suggestions from all the stakeholders (students, parents, teachers and principals) by 2pm on Thursday to determine the formula for the results of the cancelled examinations of both class X and XII boards due to Covid-19.
These suggestions will be presented to the government for consideration in the next meeting.
Following the meeting, the government could come out with the formula for calculating the marks that would be awarded to the class X and XII board students.
Earlier on June 5, the director of secondary education and chairman of the UP Board, Vinay Kumar Pandey, had sought suggestions from the principal of one reputed government, aided and unaided school in all 75 districts and an office-bearer of the teacher-parent association till June 7.

At that time 580 suggestions were received.
They were placed in a meeting chaired by additional chief secretary Aradhana Shukla on June 7.
Following this, it was decided that suggestions should also be taken from all the stakeholders.
“Over 3,500 suggestions were given by the cross-section of stakeholders including students, parents, teachers and principals and all have suggested their method of calculating the marks that would be awarded to the students of class X and XII board”, informed a highly placed source at the board on the condition of anonymity.
The source further informed that among the sizable numbers of suggestions, the majority of suggestions was that an average of the marks of class X, XI and pre-board or any other exam conducted in class XII should be the main base for awarding the marks in class XII.
Likewise, for class X, the marks obtained in preceding classes should be considered.
UP board had earlier cancelled the board examinations for class XII given the coronavirus situation in the state.
The education board had earlier proposed to take a 90-minute exam of each subject for Class XII students in the second week of July.
The decision of the UP board was in line with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decision, which too had cancelled the Class XII examination.
The decision of the board would benefit over 26 lakh students who had registered for the Uttar Pradesh Class XII board exams this year.
The state had earlier called off the board examinations for Class X as well and decided to promote over 29 lakh students to the higher grade without examination.
The state government has also decided to promote students from Class VI to class IX a class ahead and students of class XI will also be promoted without examination.
