Lucknow: Chief of Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the Indian Pepsico plant for the production of potato chips in Mathura on Wednesday.
A government spokesman said that the factory was established with an investment of Rs 814 Crore.
“Kalan Kalan Food Factory in Mathura marked the largest Pepsico Greenfield investment in manufacturing in India , “said the spokesman.
Pepsico India has been able to operate plants in less than two years.
This will create more than 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state and target at least 30% of reservations for female employees.
In addition, the factory will also benefit more than 5,000 local farmers in the state when Pepsico India intends to source 1.50 lakh tons of potatoes every year from local farmers.
Since 1990, Pepsico has produced carbonated soft drinks and non-carbonated drinks at Uttar Pradesh through franchisee.
These units function in Greater Noida, Kosi, Satharia-Jaunpur, Kanpur Dehat and Hardoi.
