LUCKNOW: A constable with UP Police Radio headquarters in Mahanagar duped a man of Rs 9 lakh in the garb of facilitating a job in Bal Vikas and Pushtahar department.
His wife and son have also been named in the FIR.
Embroiled in controversy, the constable swiftly got himself transferred to Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Mirzapur district.
Earlier, Amit Rai of IIM Road Colony, Lucknow, had met the constable, Pramod Kumar Mishra, through an acquaintance and was promised a job of project officer in Bal Vikas and Pushtahar.
Pramod asked Rai to pay Rs 12 lakh, which Rai provided through four cheques.
The money was withdrawn in the name of Pramod’s son, Divyansh, and in the name of one Ghanshayam Srivastava.
“After few weeks, Pramod gave me an appointment letter and recruitment chart, asking me to join at Kaushambi between July 21 and August 30, 2020.
When I realised the appointment letter and recruitment chart was fake, I demanded my money back.
The constable returned only Rs 3 lakh of the Rs9lakh paid,” Rai stated in his complaint to police.
He said, Pramod, his wife, Meenakshi, and their son, Divyansh, were arrested for a fraud in a gaushala project in Barabanki and were later released on bail.
Rai claimed many people had lodged cases against Pramod at Madiaon police station for the fraud too.
SHO, Mahanagar, Pradeep Singh, said, an FIR has been lodged against the constable and, his wife and son.
