LUCKNOW: After a gap of over seven weeks, the Covid-19 casualty in the state went below 100 while 727 new cases were reported.
As per the official bulletin on Covid-19, the number of deaths recorded in the past 24 hours was 81.
Prior to this, the under-100 death toll was recorded on April 14.
Health officials said that the UP’s daily test positivity rate was 0.3% which is one of the lowest figures in the country.
They also said that the state’s recovery rate reached 98%.
Following decline in active caseload in Saharanpur, Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed in the western UP districts.
With this, only three districts in the state – Meerut, Lucknow and Gorakhpur – are under Covid-19 curfew.
Indications are that all districts may be free from the corona restrictions in the next few days.
Officials pointed out that the cases – 727 – were nearly 95% below the peak recorded on April 24.
The new cases took the state’s total to 16,99,083.
Of these, 16,62,069, have recovered, including 2,860 in the past 24 hours.
The number of active cases in the state now stands at 15,681.
This includes less than 10,000 persons under home isolation.
