NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has arrested a criminal by Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly murdering a girl in the federal capital on a financial dispute, officials said Saturday.
Chetan Pandey, also a resident of Palam Colony, has been engaged in over a hundred incidents of snatching and vandalism in Delhi and Uttarakhand, authorities said.
Pandey murdered Jyoti outside her home in southwest Delhi’s Sagarpur place on May 5 after she refused to get back the cash which she’d borrowed from him and ignored his repeated telephone calls, authorities said.
Complainant Sabran Kaur, a resident of Main Sagarpur, reported she received a phone by her nephew, Veer (12), who also advised her that two individuals had shot his mom, Jyoti, authorities said.
After Kaur reached the place, she discovered that the duo for example Pandey using pistols in their own hands along with Jyoti’s own body on the floor.
They targeted the weapon Kaur and threatened of dire consequences should she disclosed their identities before tripping, the complainant informed authorities.
On May 7 at approximately 12.30 pm, authorities was able to track those accused and while attempting to detain themthe duo assaulted the cops and Pandey was able to escape.
But, his company and also co-accused, Rahul, a resident of Najafgarh, received bullet damage and has been apprehended.
With the support of surveillance, authorities tracked Pandey into Kinoni village in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, also a senior police officer stated.
“Police hurried to Kinoni village and also nabbed the accused following a short scuffle when he had been moving towards Haridwar to fulfill among his own family members,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Ingit Pratap Singh explained.
During interrogation, the accused revealed he was able to perpetrate snatching together with his or her associates.
He had been detained but came from prison in February 2021 and began sinking in Sagarpur and Palam regions, authorities said.
On the afternoon of this episode, he and his partner went into Jyoti’s house where she began quarrelling together, after which they opened fire, authorities said.
Following the episode, he fled into Rudrapur at Uttarakhand in which his girlfriend lives.
Afterwards, he moved to Uttar Pradesh in where he had been detained, authorities added.
