Lucknow: Families of at least 2,020 government employees who died because Covid-19 during the task of Pancide polls will receive RS 30lakh each in compensation after the revised calculation by the Raj Pancayati department.
Additional Chief Secretary (Pancayati Raj) Manoj Kumar Singh told TOI 3,092 applications received in the revised protocol to determine the deaths in charge of Covid-19 and 2,020 cases recommended for compensation.
“There are 10-20 additional cases that will be forwarded to the State Advisory Council in Covid.
After they confirm the feasibility, their families will also receive compensation,” he said.
Under the definition of previous deaths on duty, the government identified 74 government employees who died of covid and non-covid reasons.
The rule states that ex-gratia will only be given if the employee dies while traveling or during the trip to and from the place of duty, which is calculated in one day or a maximum of two, depending on how far the employee travels.
However, with various associations that claim more employees surrendered to Covid-19 while on duty, Chairman of the Yogi Minister Aditentalath directed the official members of Secretary and Pancayati Raj to ask the Election Commission to change the rules to reflect the impact of the pandemic.
On May 31, the Cabinet agreed that the rules were changed where ex-gratia would be given if Covid’s death occurred within 30 days from the date of the assignment.
Those who tested negatively, but died of post-covid complications in the period will also be considered for compensation.
The government has considered a RPCR or positive antigen test, a blood report or CT chest scan as proof of covid infection.
In the cases reviewed to be reviewed to the Advisory Board, Singh said, RPCR or the antigen report lost, but the doctor’s prescription, blood test showed high CRP values and evidence of treatment as a case of alleged covid was attached.
A official said, 11 employees of the Lakh government were the assignments of the Pancrayat election this year, where 6.5 lakh were teachers.
Among 2,020 who died of Covid, around 50% were teachers.
The Pancayati Department Raj will upload a list of all 2,020 on their portal.
From approximately RS 600 Crore which will be allocated for compensation, the Department of Panchayati Raj has released RS 300Crore to the Election Commission.
The remaining amount will be released as once the Country Election Commission submitted a utilization certificate for the first installment.
