Lucknow: With six months left for assembly polls, BJP will fulfill the promise of major polls by providing free WiFi in public places in the state.
The Chairman of the Yogi Adityanath Minister announced that on August 15, high-speed WiFi connectivity would be available in 217 public places under 75 district headquarters, city councils, and city corporations.
As planned, WiFi will be given in two locations in big cities and one in small cities.
The urban development department has begun to record blueprints quickly implementing the project.
Commissioner Division, district judges and city commissioners have been asked to identify hotspots in large public places, which include the Tribun Bus, Railway Stations, Tehsils, Courts, Office of Blocks and Registration and Main Markets.
A government spokesman said the proposal requires free wifi availability in two places in cities under the city company and in one location in small cities.
Expenditures will be borne by smart city projects or urban bodies.
Such facilities can be expected in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Aligarh, Varanasi, Prasagraj, Jhany, Saharapur, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Meerut, Shahjahanpur, Ghurabad, Mathura-Vrinzabad and Firozabad.
“CM has directed an urban development department to bind with internet companies to organize facilities throughout the country, while ensuring high-speed connectivity.
Expenditures will be borne by smart city projects or urban agencies.
Urban local bodies are also asked to provide routine updates about installation status To quickly overcome the interference, “said the spokesman.
He added that companies engaged in the WiFi installation will be responsible for maintenance and speed will be decided by local authorities.
