New Delhi: Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Jal Delhi Raghav Chadha on Monday said that he was “sad” to see Yamuna’s foam and urged the government Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to take steps to stop releasing water that was not treated into the river.
“While the Delhi government did not leave the stone missed in improving the situation, the state of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana was not disturbed,” he said.
The reaction from the DJB Deputy Chairman came after Delhi’s occupants awoke to watch Yamuna covered with a thick layer of toxic foam.
“It seems that the government over and Haryana does not care about how they release wastewater untreated into Yamuna.
The DJB continues to work to improve and increase the capacity of waste treatment plants so that the untreated effluent is not released into the river,” Chadha said in a statement.
Previously, DJB had reported high-level ammonia problems in raw yamuna which caused four main water treatment plants to stop.
This causes disruption to the water supply which causes major problems for residents in many parts of the city.
According to Chadha, water is filled with a large number of surfactants falling in Kalindi from a height, which produces foam.
Environment Minister Delhi Gopal Rai blamed the Haryana government led by BJP for the formation of toxic foam in Yamuna and said the Kunyit Party leaders here must find answers from neighboring countries.
Pictures and videos of worshipers standing in antique toxic at the waist in Yamuna in Kalindi Kunj here became a viral on Monday, with BJP opposition in Delhi blaming the AAP government for “toxic” water and air in the city.
