Meerut: A man disguised as a two-time Rajya Sabha MP from Janata Party, Prem Manohar – who died in 2013 – had filed false documents to claim compensation of Rs 1 crore for 80 land bighas obtained by authorities for road widening project from the office of additional district magistrate (ADM), the acquisition of land.
Surprisingly, all the documents that proved of Tehsildars and other officials there.
The problem came to light when the administration is ready to release a check of Rs 84 lakh, after which the district magistrate (DM) K Balaji has ordered an investigation.
Children Manohar confirmed that their father died in 2013 and that they do not know about the fraud, which has not been arrested.
Manohar is twice as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, from 1968 to 1974 and then from 1977 to 1980.
According to the district administration record, he has bought 80 BGHAS Samaspur farmland in the village of 119 runs for Pauri from Meerut.
“Administration began to acquire a few months ago for widening the highway, and the process is still on.
One day, a man who identified himself as Prem Manohar arrived at the office of District Judge with all relevant documents and claim compensation for the land acquired.
He submit a copy of Aadhaar, proof of address, voter ID and even passbook to prove his identity.
Along with this, a certificate issued by Lekhpal which identifies him as Prem Manohar also handed over, “said an official.
Because of all the documents seem to exist, the officials concerned begin the process of replacement and check of Rs 84 Lakh prepared.
But before checks can be released to the plaintiff, it came to pass that the actual Prem Manohar is MP twice and had died in 2013.
Officials then call the son Manohar, Prashant Kumar, to verify the problem.
“We have shared the documents required by the administration to prove that my father is no longer,” said Prashant Kumar told TOI.
“I have asked the ADM, land acquisition, to investigate the matter and submit its report at the beginning,” said district judge K Balaji.
