PRAYAGRAJ: Now there are no macro containment zones in Prayagraj and Fatehpur districts due to rising recovery rate and constant fall in number of active cases.
However, the neighbouring Kaushambi and Pratapgarh districts have one and 17 macro containment zones respectively.
In Prayagraj district, the strength of macro containment zones came down from 294 to 148 in between May 23 and 19 and it reduced to zero on June 5.
The Sangam City, however, has a total of 412 active micro containment zones till June 6.
On May 23, the number of micro containment zone was 1,891 and it deduced to 412 on June 7.
The peak of macro and micro containment zone was in Prayagraj district 294 and 9,527 respectively on May 7.
The Sangam City has reported a total of 77,991 positive cases till June 6 and 76,669 of them have recovered.
The city has reported 927 deaths so far.
Currently, there are 395 active cases.
“Increasing recovery rate and declining caseload has lead to no macro containment zones in Prayagraj district,” said IG, Prayagraj range, K P Singh adding, “We have been appealing masses to follow Covid-19 protocol and guidelines to check the spread of the disease”, he added.
The number of micro containment zones has declined in neighbouring Kaushambi from 242 on May 13 to 22 on June 6, while in Fatehpur it has come down from 178 on May 18 to 29 on June 6, the IG said.
However, micro containment zones in Pratapgarh district have declined from 1097 on May 23 to 91 on June 6.
There are a total 554 micro containment zones in the range till June 6 including 412 in Prayagraj, 22 in Kaushambi, 29 in Fatehpur and 91 in Pratapgarh.
Besides,there are 18 macro containment zones including Kaushambi (1), and Pratapgarh (17).
A senior health official admitted that after the strict implementation of macro and micro containment zones in all four districts, we have been successful in curbing the spread of infection through surveillance and restricting movement of people.
The strategy of testing,tracking and treatment also helped bring caseload down to a major extent.
