Lucknow: Confirming that at least 41 people died after being beaten by lightning in the 16 district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, the state government on Monday said Rs 4 Lakh would be given as ex to KIN to KIN from each of the deceased.

“The family of people who died because the lightning strike was given the Relief Ex Gratia from Rs 4 Lakh each under the state disaster relief funds.
The family of the deceased from Prayagraj issued compensation on Monday night itself while payment will be released to the remaining family,” said Commissioner Ranvir Prasad.
The victim included five each at Kanpur Dehat and Fatehpur, three of each in Firozabad and Kaushambi, two of each in Chitrakoot, Unnao, Hamirpur and Sonbhadra and one in Mirzapur, Hardoi and Banda.
At least 23 people were injured in a lightning strike in seven districts.
“Those who were injured were being treated at a government hospital free of charge,” said Prasad.
Meanwhile, the department has also made regulatory changes to issue compensation in the case of snake bites.
Quoting delays in medical reports after compensation released, Prasad said the main post-mortem report would be sufficient evidence for compensation release.
“Previously, the victims’ visa was preserved and sent for medical analysis.
This is a time-consuming process.
It has been decided that after the permission from the chairman of the Yogi Aditentalath Minister, compensation can be released on the basis of the main post-mortem report,” Prasad said.
