Lucknow: With the selection of assembly rising less than a month, the State Health Department and field workers have a difficult deadline to vaccinate 75% of the 18-plus population which qualifies before starting voting.
Uphill tasks to vaccinate all voters with at least the first dose is being hammered.
Health official sharing that around 95% of the target population is vaccinated in part and they believe the rest will be discussed in a few days.
Now, a big challenge is that 85% of the people above have taken covishied and the second dose follows a gap of 84 days.
So, they are vaccinated on or after November 21, 2021, for the first dose they will not be eligible for the second dose.
Until the date, 23.65 Crore doses have been managed in and the qualified group is 14.74 crore.
In terms of people, 94% have been affixed in part and 60% have received a second dose.
In the assessment of categories-wise, more than 96% of health workers and 94% of frontline workers are fully vaccinated.
But in terms of people, 65% of the elderly and 54% of the 18-plus population have taken both doses.
However, 73% of those aged 44-59 age groups have got the first and second shots.
“While we will most likely reach a 75% target for the 45-age group, it remains a challenge in two other categories because 85% of people in this country have been vaccinated with Covishield, which is distinguished by 84 days,” said a senior officer in the state government Section, adding this problem has been prepared for deliberation before the task force on Covid-19 vaccination.
The task force will accelerate the procedure to meet the target, if the exception or relaxation is permitted.
Sources say authorities in other countries are also being consulted, but the challenge remains unique because it is the only state in which elections are spread in seven phases.
Take the example of 11 districts that will conduct a poll in the first phase.
Only Gautam Buddh Nagar and Baghpat have more than 75% of the 18-plus groups are fully vaccinated.
The rest of Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra and Hapur have less than 60% of voters who are fully vaccinated.
