UP targets to give 1 lakh more govt jobs this yr

LUCKNOW: With the weakening of the second wave of the pandemic, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given directions to boost up the pace of economic activities in the state and to restart Mission Rozgar, projects which would help in generating employment.
In the current year, the CM said that at least 1 lakh government jobs will be given, taking the total number of government recruitments in the past almost five years to 5 lakh.
Mission Rozgar was initially launched on December 5, 2020 with the aim of generating employment for 50 lakh persons by March 31, 2021.
Through this programme, the government aimed at training and skilling people in order to provide them with employment opportunities.
In the past more than a year, said a government spokesperson, more than 1 lakh women have been given government jobs while 1.50 crore workers have been provided with employment under MNREGS.
Start-Up units and industrial units have provided 5 lakh and 3 lakh jobs while more than 25 lakh have gained employment through the government’s ‘one district-one product’ scheme.
More than 50 lakh MSME units have provided 1.80 lakh jobs while more than 1.30 lakh teachers have been recruited.
Organisations like Amazon, Flipkart, AKTU, BSE, etc, have generated more than 65,000 jobs.
With the establishment of the state data centre in Noida, more than 50,000 people are expected to get employment, he added.
The spokesperson said that the second phase of Mission Rozgar will take off from where the first phase was left off.
Government departments, voluntary organizations, corporations, councils, boards and local bodies came together to generate employment and self- employment opportunities through skill training and apprenticeship.
Employment help desks were set up in every government office where details of programs related to employment, self-employment and skills training being run by that particular department were provided.
The Directorate of Training and Employment will have to maintain a database for Mission Rozgar.
The Directorate will also organize job fairs in collaboration with private industries.
Departments will organize workshops and awareness programs to enable self-employment while vacancies in all departments will also be filled through special campaigns.
