Lucknow: The Jamajwadi Party raised the issue of the election of Panchayat during the legislative council process on Wednesday and alleged irregularities during the poll process.
The Samajwadi Party MLC Naresh Uttam said the BJP government conducted a Pancrayat election during the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic and used it for its own advantage.
“It was for the first time electoral observer was sent to the district on the election day.
According to the rules, observers must reach the district concerned as soon as the selection notice is issued,” he said.
“The candidates for opposition parties are targeted and the engine is officially used by the government,” he added.
SP MLC Udaveer Singh refers to the Lakhimur Kheri incident, where a SP female worker is issued during the Panchayat selection, and looks for the details of the actions taken by the government.
SP members quoted violent incidents in Sitapur, Jalaun, Baghpat, Rampur, Gorakhpur, Balrampur, and Kannauj and claimed that the results of the selection were manipulated.
Replying to the charges, Deputy Minister of the Chair of Dinesh Sharma said that if SP has a problem with the election method, it can move the court.
“The districts where you lose the fight, you accuse the election rigged, but what about the places where you win,” Sharma asked.
“The issue of the Jamajwadi Party is that caste-based politics failed in the election of Panchayat.
At least 80-85% of YADAV candidates in the Panciran poll supported by BJP,” he said.
