New Delhi: Former member of the Ishrat Congress Board of Jahan, was arrested under a strict old activity law (prevention), has transferred a court seeking guarantees in the case of the Northeast Delhi conspiracy.
Additional sessions of Judge Amitabh will hear the argument about the request on July 12.
Advocate Pradeep Teotia together with the lawyer and Ishrat sister, Sarwer Jahan represented him in this case.
“He has been proven to be a leading female face of protests.
This is one of our reasons in Plea Bail.
We struggle for justice and to prove their innocence to court because he was not involved,” said Sarwer Jahan.
In November last year, the court denied temporary guarantees for him to consider gravity violations including those submitted under UPA, strict anti-terror law.
He has been seeking guarantees citing the Covid-19 outbreak in Mandoli prison and other medical problems.
Previously, Jahan was given a temporary guarantee for 10 days to get married and directed so as not to damage the evidence or influence the witnesses.
Jahan marriage has been repaired for June 12 2020.
Besides Jahan, Jamia Millia Asif Students Iqbal Tanha, JNU Student Natasha Narwal and Devangana Kalita, Former Student Leader of Umar Khalid, Member of the Jamia Safoora Zargar Coordination Committee, several others have also been ordered under the law anti-terror in this case.
In particular, they were accused of being “mastermind” from Violence February 2020, who had left 53 dead and more than 700 injured.
The Delhi High Court has recently provided guarantees to land, narwal and kalita in this case, saying the country blurs the line between the right to protest and terrorist activities with anxiety to reduce differences of opinion.
