Lucknow: Even as President of RAM Nath Kovind put the foundation stone for the cultural center and research dedicated to the BR Ambedkar here on Tuesday, the event turned into a slugfest political with BSP accusing BJP to calm the assembly of polls and BJP hit again.
While Kovind praised the architect of the Constitution as education, economists, legal experts, politics, journalists, socioologists and social reformers who also contributed to culture, religion and spirituality, Head of BSP Mayawati called it “drama by BJP.” “BJP ignored Ambedkar and harassed his followers for the whole duration where they came to power.
Now, the government puts the foundation stone for the center of culture,” he said.
“BSP does not oppose every center built in the name Ambedkar.
But to do this for political benefits is nothing but cheat,” he added.
Then, BJP attacked Mayawati and said that people had seen their politics.
“He should have been happy that BJP has begun steps to preserve the inheritance of Babasaheb,” Swami Prasad Maurya, former Mayawati’s aide and now a minister in the government.
Nand State Minister Gopal Nandi said: “People have seen how Mayawati pays lip service only to Dalits.” During the ceremony, Kovind thanked the government to choose June 29 to put the foundation stone.
“Ambedkar launched the weekly ‘Samta’ today in 1928.
His life was focused on the establishment of ‘Samta Bukar’, the sentiment was present even in the opening,” he said.

Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial and Cultural Center will display a statue of Ambedkar 45 feet, a jar that contains the abysnya, library, auditorium and research center.
