Chennai: The stage is set for a multi-pounded contest for the urban local body, which is likely to be held in February.
The Country Election Commission is likely to make an announcement immediately after a pongal celebration and ongoing restrictions for newly created and expanded urban local agencies.
The Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on December 27 for Kumbakonam Corporation, the last of the six new companies announced by the DMK, where the government announced regulations on Monday.
The state has decided to have 48 wards in Kumbakonam.
Overall, the parties will compete in 21 companies, 138 cities and 490 Panchayats City, the election that came after the deadline for the Supreme Court to complete in four months.
“The election of the body of the urban area is scheduled to take place in the first week of February and the notice will be issued immediately after Pongal,” said a source.
The state is expected to immediately announce the distribution date of free pongal gifts from 20 items – including rice, jaggery and sugar cane to 2.15 PDS card holders and the Tamil lyrics live in rehabilitation centers.
This will cost RS1,088 Crore.
In contrast to the AIDMK regime, the DMK government still has not announced cash support for Pongal which remembers the central flood assistance still won’t come.
DMK may have swept the election of the local rural agency in all nine newly formed districts, but the party faces major challenges in urban local agencies with opposition accusing the government not fulfilling the promise of polls.
“Anti-infumbency has been established with the government that failed in the maintenance of law and order, lack of basic infrastructure and poor flood handling.
AIADMK will take for the mass of his achievements,” said Minister D Jayakumar, who has transferred Madras High Court who is looking for free elections and Fair, while accusing that the Commission failed to obey the court order during the poll to the rural body.
This contest will fierce considering that the party with the majority of Bangsal will also win the mayor of the company and chairman of the municipality and the city in indirect elections.
With BJP who confirmed the alique with AIDMK for Civic polls too, the contest would be interesting in the Western belt.
Allied Estmana AIADMK, PMK and DMDK have announced their own contest, while MNM and NTK Kamal Haasan will try hard to record a few small wins.
DMK believes to register a big victory with a complete alliance.
“The performance of the minister’s chairman is very well accepted throughout the state.
We will also attract voters who do not choose us in the assembly poll.
Our target is 100% victory and we will reach,” said DMK MP TKS Elangovan.
