Urvashi Rautela: I left several of the main film projects just to win the crown

Urvashi Rautela is one of the most popular faces in the Indian entertainment industry.
She believes whatever she is today is because of her title (Miss Diva 2015 – Miss Universe India).
Recently, in an Insta live conversation with the host Sachin Kumbhar, the Uttarakhand beauty recollected her rollercoaster journey from pageantry to becoming the top-ranked Bollywood actress.
“My life changed completely in my own state.
The kind of homecoming I got there was a lot of admiration and, the moment I became, I knew that things had changed for me.
I was the Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan of that moment.
After I received the title, there was a lot of respect, even from the international audience.
So I think the title is what made me who I am today”, Urvashi said, recalling her life-changing crowning moment.
Urvashi has come a long way from winning the title of Miss Universe twice.
In 2012, she won the coveted crown of I AM She – Miss Universe India.
However, she had to relinquish her crown as she was underage at that time.
In 2015, the stunning beauty was crowned Miss Diva Universe 2015 and she proudly represented India at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.
Speaking about the hardship that she went through as a teen in 2012, when she lost her crown, the diva said, “As a 17-year-old girl, I had dreams and I left some major film projects just to fulfill my dreams.
But then at that point of time films were not my main focus.
My main focus was winning the pageant and for the past two years I gave up all the modeling projects and I was just preparing.
So a girl who just gave up everything because she was preparing for pageants, it was tough.
Preparing for pageants, I feel is equivalent to an athlete going to the Olympics.
I was underage just 4 days shorter of turning 18 and then when you come to know about it.
So it was not a good feeling I really can’t express.”
She further added and shared a heartbreaking filmy moment connected to the situation, “I got to know about it.
We were all sitting at a table.
It was Oct 2nd, I still remember it was 2:00 am.
I was coming back in my car and we reached the place where we stayed.
I was with my dad outside.
It was thundering, raining and I was crying.
My tears and the rain were all together.
I was crying because this was something I had never imagined, no one could accept it.
To me, the title meant everything.
So it depends on how serious you are about things and how hard you prepare.
The intensity depends from person to person.
I was crying, and it was raining from 3:30 p.m.
at midnight until 7 a.m.
the next morning.
I was standing there in the rain.
My father came outside, he saw me standing there and I did not react.
It was a very blank moment.
There were many accusations leveled against me at the time that I lied about my age.
Also, in 2015, many people were opposed to my participation, but I was following my heart.”

Urvashi is a go-getter who never gave up on her dream and her courage and confidence made her what she is today.
The diva lauded the efforts of LIVA Miss Diva in making the lives of many young aspirants just like her.
She feels it’s not just her, but Miss Diva 2013 – Miss Universe India Manasi Moghe, Miss Diva 2014 – Miss Universe India Noyonita Lodh, Miss Diva 2016 – Miss Universe India Roshmitha Harimurthy, and Miss Universe 2020 – 3rd runner-up Adline Castelino are all doing well in life and are recognised because of their title.
This year, LIVA Miss Diva Co-powered by MX TakaTak has kick-started with fresh energy, enthusiasm, and life-changing experiences of witnessing young aspirants from all around the country compete for the coveted title.
The registration and auditions are accessible and transparent to all the aspirants right from their homes.
Talking about this digital change, Urvashi said, “In terms of choosing the winners, the qualities will be the same, but only the process will be different.” She believes that our previous day-to-day lives were different and that we are just now preoccupied with talking to people digitally.
The stunning beauty also discussed the height criteria changes and the inclusion of transwomen in the 2021 pageant.
She said, “I think it is a nice shift if we look towards the international rules at Miss Universe; they have been accepting delegates who are transwomen, so I completely support it.
Also, the height requirement is 5’4, so there are a lot of girls who can participate.
Now it’s no longer about height, it is all about personality.
It’s all about who has it in her to be the next Miss Diva Universe.

Urvashi’s experiences have inspired many to trust in the power of perseverance.
She is a role model for many young girls who wish to achieve the crown.
Sharing some tips with them, she said, “To all the girls who are applying for LIVA Miss Diva go for it and prepare well.
I know it’s a pandemic.
Do not miss your workouts.
Pay a lot of attention to your mental and physical fitness.
Study as much as you can.
You should be aware of what’s happening in and around the world.
Be aware of every single thing.
So just be yourself; your personality will shine through, and the judges will understand who you are as a person.
Do practice your walks in sarees, swimsuits, evening gowns, and enjoy them to the fullest.
Enter only because you have a purpose in your mind.
Go for it with all your heart!”
In the end, the diva gave a vote of thanks and said she would forever be grateful to the Miss Diva family who had been a part of her journey.
She even thanked her mentor, Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden, for all of her efforts in training her, and she cherished her memories spent with Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta.
