US, China Exchange negotiators hold trade talks

BEIJING/WASHINGTON: US and Chinese trade negotiators on Thursday held discussions within both nations’ continuing trade dispute to the first time because American President Joe Biden occurred in January.

The new US Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai along with China’s Vice Premier Liu He talked about Thursdayand both sides have now verified in separate statements.

“The two sides were honest, pragmatic and constructive trades,” dpa news agency quoted China’s Trade Ministry as saying in a statement.

The US gave a comparable test, imagining a”blunt exchange” between the two.

It added that through an”introductory digital assembly “,” Ambassador Tai spoke”the guiding principles of this Biden-Harris government’s worker-centred transaction policy along with her continuing review of this US-China trade association, while also increasing issues of concern”.

The USTR also said that she looks forward to future talks with Vice Premier Liu,” as stated by the US announcement.

Both sides emphasised the value of the trading relationship.

Nevertheless, the new government sees China as its main competitor, and it has suggested it will also pursue a challenging path against Beijing, albeit in communicating with global allies.

China was accused of unfair trade practices, government subsidies, market challenges and intellectual property theft and pushed technology transfer.

Beijing and Washington are shrouded in a marketplace war for 3 decades.

The previous touch between negotiators was August 2020 through the government of former US President Donald Trump.

The US and China reached a partial deal last January with a so-called phase-one exchange agreement that functioned as a ceasefire from the trade warfare, with respect to be assessed every six weeks.

China vowed to dramatically increase its imports in the US within their arrangement.

Beijing is also demanding the US withdraw punitive tariffs levied by Trump on just about all imports by China, over Beijing could react to using counter-tariffs.
