Washington: A child was injured when a car hijacked on the Christmas parade in the state of Wisconsin had died, taking victims from the tragedy to six, the local prosecutor said when the suspect appeared in court.
Darrell Brooks, 39, was charged with five accidental murder accusations, and now facing allegations of sixth murder, said Susan Opper prosecutor.
Brooks appeared in court because the indictment was wearing what appeared was the body armor.
His face was masked, handed handcuffs and head bent when a judge said he faced several sentences if he was found guilty of death.
Commissioner of the Kevin Costello court set a guarantee of Brooks at $ 5 million when the attorney appointed lawy said he was “poor”.
“The nature of this violation is surprising,” Costello said.
He added two detectives had tried to stop Brooks but he continued, it appeared intentionally aiming for people and turned from side to side as he drove through the parade.
“You are considered innocent, but that is what is meant by the accusation,” Costello said.
“I haven’t seen anything like this in my very long career.
It seems to be a very strong case for the country.” Waukesha officials said there seemed to be no motive for the disaster, besides that Brooks had gone from a kind of confrontation when the police were called to the scene.
Brooks allegedly directed its red SUV to marching musicians, dancers and children at the Sunday annual holiday parade in Waukesha City, triggering concerns about the possibility of terrorist incidents.
The child who died was identified by his parents on the Gofundme page when Jackson Sparks was eight years old.
“This afternoon, Jackson dear sadly gave up on his injury and died,” Writing Aaron and Sheri Sparks.
They said their 12-year-old son, Tucker was also injured in the parade, but “recovered magically” and will be sent home from the hospital.
In addition to sparks, four women and one man were killed and 62 people were injured, including other children, some were still in critical condition.
Given the number of injuries, Opper said, “There are a number of other charges we reviewed and considered.” “But of course at least we intend to submit a sixth count of deliberate murder,” he told the court.
The questions have been raised by why Brooks, who were arrested in the nearest Milwaukee just a few weeks earlier on the many allegations of domestic abuse to hit and run over his mother’s mother, had been released with a minimum guarantee of $ 1,000.
OPPER was told to the court long record of arrest and guarantee jumping for Brooks back to 2000.
In Wisconsin he had been charged several times for lightweight drug violations, rejecting the arrest, weapons allegations, and had served several short tasks, and had served in prison.
He was punished at Nevada in 2006 and 2007 for domestic batteries and “Seduction Sexual”, or sex with an underage girl.
Earlier this year he was imprisoned in Georgia for battery and family violence.
“There are no words to describe the risk that this defendant presents to our community,” Oper said, requested a high level of guarantee.
