Washington: United States on Monday (local time) condemned Houthi’s attack on the UAE which killed three civilians, including two Indians, and vowed to stand beside Emirati partners against all their threats.
“The United States strongly condemned the terrorist attack today in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, which killed three innocent civilians.
Houthis has claimed responsibility for this attack, and we will work with UAE and international partners to be responsible,” Read the statement by Jake Sullivan National Security Advisor.
“Our commitment to unshakable UAE security and we stand in addition to our Emirati partners against all threats to their territory,” Sullivan added.
Two Indian citizens were one of three people who were killed and six who were injured in the explosion in Abu Dhabi today as three petroleum tanker trucks exploded after shooting near the main oil storage facility in the Mussafah region of the UAE capital.
Police Abu Dhabi said that the explosion involving three oil tankers and fires at the construction site of the new Emirate airport extension could potentially be caused by drones.
“The fire provoked the explosion in three tanks to transport fuel in the Misfah area near the Fuel Depot of the Emirati Adnoc State Company,” said the police statement.
Meanwhile, the Saudi LED coalition destroyed eight drones towards the kingdom, according to Al Jazeera.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, at the time of the attack, told the almasirah broadcasters that the Yemeni rebel group would soon reveal details about military operations in the UAE region.
The UAE has been part of a Saudi-led military campaign against Houthi rebels in Yemen since 2015.
He intervened in the Yemeni Civil War in 2015 as part of the Arab coalition but reduced its operations in 2019.
