The United States reached a six-month high for new Covid cases with more than 100,000 infections reported on Wednesday, according to Reuters calculations, as Delta variants damaged areas where people were not vaccinated.
The country reported more than 94,819 cases at an average of seven days, a five-fold increase in less than a month, Reuters data until Wednesday showed.
On average seven days provide the most accurate picture of how fast the case rises because some countries only report infections once a week or only on weekdays.
In the coming weeks, cases can multiply up to 200,000 per day because of the highly contagious Delta variant, our infectious expert said at Anthony Fauci on Wednesday.
“If the others come who have the skills of transmission that are equally high but also far more severe, then we really can be in trouble,” said Fauci in an interview with McClatchy.
“People who are not vaccinated mistakenly think it’s just about them.
But it’s not.
It’s about everyone, too.” The Delta variant, was first detected in India, accounted for 83% of all new cases reported in the United States, according to controlling centers and prevention of disease.
The vaccination rate varies greatly from the highest of 76% of Vermont residents who received the first dose to a low of 40% in Mississippi, with a poll that showed the Republican Party far lighter than Democrats to vaccinate.
People who were not vaccinated represented nearly 97% of severe cases, according to the White House response team Covid-19.
Death, lagging indicator, jumped 33% over the past week, with around 377 deaths per day on average, according to the analysis.
Southern countries, which have some of the lowest level of vaccination of the country, reporting the most covid-19 cases and inpatients.
Florida, Texas and Louisiana reported the total number of new cases in the area during the past week, according to Reuters analysis.
Florida, which has emerged as a national nest of new infections, set another gloomy hospitalization record on Thursday with 12,373 Covid-19 patients confirmed in his hospital, according to data from the Ministry of Health and US Human Service (HHS).
