A US government weather forecaster on Thursday said La Nina could potentially emerge during the September-November season and last through winter 2021-22.
The La Nina pattern is characterized by extraordinary low temperatures in the ecatorial Pacific Ocean and associated with floods and droughts.
Meanwhile, the neutral condition of El NiƱo-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is expected during the summer of the northern hemisphere and down this year, the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center (CPC) said in its monthly estimates.
There are around 51% of Enso opportunities for neutral conditions for the August-October season, said BPK.
The Enso weather pattern is marked by the average long-term sea temperature, tropical rainfall and atmospheric wind.
Last month the fortune teller set a chance of enso-neutral weather conditions by 50% for the September-November season.
