Houston: Chemical leaks in the Houston area water park left dozens who suffered minor skin irritation and respiratory problems, said the authorities.
Twenty-nine people were taken to a local hospital after the incident at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in spring on Saturday, Harris County Fire Marshal’s office tweeted.
Thirty-nine others refused to be taken to the hospital after undergoing decontamination procedures.
KPRC-TV reported that some of them were sick were children, including a three-year-old child who was hospitalized in a stable condition.
Chemicals involved include hypochlorite solutions and 35 percent of sulfuric acid, officials said.
“Guest security and our team members are always our top priority and the park is immediately cleaned when we try to determine a purpose,” said a spokesman for Hurricane Harbor Splashtown Rosie Shepard in a statement, according to news outlets.
“Out of caution, the park has been closed for that day.” The authorities are investigating the cause of the incident, which they say contained in one attraction in the park.
“Be grateful for the rapid action of the first respondent today at Splashtown,” Head of Houston was chosen, Tweet, Tweeted.
“We have issued closing orders to investigate and ensure parks meet all the requirements before they reopened.” (AP)
