WASHINGTON: The US House of Representatives on Monday passes laws that will improve scientific research in an effort to make the US more competitive than China.
The US parliamentarians passed two bills based on bipartisan to increase funds for the foundation of national science and establish a new directorate for science and engineering to expand research opportunities, and ratify research funding for the Department of Energy Science, reporting hills.
“We must significantly increase funds for science.
Over the years, we have allowed millions of very good research dollars,” said Chairman of Home Science, Space and Technology Eddie Bernice Johnson.
“We are at the critical point in the history of our nation and we must focus more on the role of science in our society,” he added.
The first bill, called the National Science Foundation for the Future Law was approved in voting 345-67 while the second size, entitled Department of Energy Sciences for the Future Law passed 351-68.
They will increase funding for the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy Sciences around seven percent every year.
The Republican Party also added provisions in the Committee to ban the applicants of grants from participating in a talent program related to foreign governments such as the program of thousands of talents, related to the Chinese government, according to the hill.
“It is very important that we attack the correct balance between keeping our research company open but also from protecting it from enemies who try to use our open system,” said Representative Republic of Michael Waltz.
Apart from two bills passed on Monday, which originated from the Science Committee, Space and Technology, a separate law from the Foreign Affairs Committee also in work, the hill reported.
