WASHINGTON: US officials issued a new warning about Chinese ambitions in artificial intelligence and various advanced technologies which ultimately can provide Beijing military superiority that determines and the possibility of domination of health care and other important sectors in America.
The warning includes new efforts to notify business executives, academics and local government officials and state regarding the risk of accepting Chinese investment or expertise in the main industries, officials at the National Counterartelligence and Security Center said Thursday.
While the center has no intention of notifying officials to reject Chinese investment, it will encourage efforts to control intellectual property and apply security measures.

The Counterintelligence Center Acting Director, Michael Orlando, told reporters in rare briefing on Thursday that the US “was unable to lose” land to China in several main areas: artificial intelligence, autonomous system, quantum computing, semiconductor and biotechnology.
Orlando noted that Chinese business and academics were considered for the Chinese Communist Party and were required to serve the interests of the party.
“Even though we have said this for year after year, people don’t digest this,” he said.
Orlando refused to say whether the US must impose a harder limit or direct prohibition on China’s investment in certain sectors, by saying its role is not to suggest policy.
But the counter intelligence center has a regular briefing with the private industry and academics while acknowledging that the industry and universities may still want to find students, experts and investors from China, Orlando said.
