New York: A Tesla factory worker in California has sued electric car makers, accusing women to experience rampant sexual abuse at the facility and that the manager has not taken action even though there are complaints.
The Fremont factory in the San Francisco Bay region has been involved in other controversies, including a lawsuit that accuses racism and battle for Covid-19 limitations.
In the new settings submitted on Thursday, Jessica Barraza said she was a victim of language and sexist behavior, including frequent groping on the factory floor – all of which were known by supervisors and managers and even carried out by them.
“Even though Tesla openly claimed that it fostered a safe and respectful environment for its workers, the truth was that for years Tesla had subjected women who worked at the Fremont factory to the conditions of rampant sexual harassment,” claim claims.
Tesla did not immediately reply to a comment request.
Barraza accused one of his colleagues, for example, slipped back behind him before placing his legs between his thighs.
“Almost every day for three years, my female work colleague and I was troubled, threatened, touched, and proposed on the floor of the factory,” he said in a statement released by his lawyer.
Barraza, 38, said he complained several times for the supervisor and representatives of human resources, but there was no action taken for his knowledge.
Instead, he believes that he is rewarded after a variety of reports, as assigned to a new position or faced disciplinary action after the episode with the man put his legs between him.
Currently medical leave, with a diagnosis of post-traumatic disorders, he sought compensation compensation and punishment, and the obligation of Tesla to implement training programs, monitoring and sanctions to prevent sexual harassment.
This new lawsuit came a few weeks after the California jury ruled Tesla had to pay a former $ 137 million compensation for a black employee to close the eyes to the racism found by humans.
Last year, Elon Musk CEO fertile authorities over the reopening of the factory amid coronavirus restrictions and threatened to move its headquarters outside the country.
Furthermore, Musk told investors in October that leading electric vehicle makers moved their headquarters to Texas, where he built a factory.
