WASHINGTON: United States President Joe Biden’s National Security Advisors, Jake Sullivan, will meet this week in Europe with China’s top diplomats, the White House said Tuesday.
Sullivan and Jiechi will meet in Zurich to follow up on September phone calls between Biden and President XI Jinping about how “to manage competition responsibly” between the two countries, the White House said in a statement.
A White House spokesman said the meeting will take place on Wednesday.
Sullivan’s journey continued the contact increase between Beijing and Washington, as Biden argued to build a “fence fence” for the growth of the contest between the two strengths.
On Monday, US trade representatives Katherine Tai said she would immediately speak with Chinese partners, as a massive trade dispute thunderously visible.
After the meeting of Zurich, Sullivan will visit Brussels and Paris, where he will also “tether his meeting with the Director to our Allies and European partners,” the White House said.
In a 90-minute call with XI last month – the second in his presidency – Biden said he wanted to avoid “unwanted conflict.”
