Taipei: The two US aircraft vessel groups have entered the divided South China Sea for training, the defense department said on Monday because Taiwan reported the new Chinese Air Force attack at the peak of the water channel including a scary new electronic war jet.
The South China Sea and Taiwan who regulate themselves are two of the most sensitive Chinese territorial problems and both are often the tension area between the United States and China.
The US naval ship routinely sailed close to the occupied Chinese islands in the South China Sea to challenge Chinese sovereignty claims, and through the Taiwan Strait, with Beijing’s anger.
The US Department of Defense said two US Navy Transport Groups, led by their leading USS Carl Vinson and USS Abraham Lincoln had started operations in the South China Sea on Sunday.
The operator group will conduct exercises including anti-submarine war operations, air war operations and maritime prohibition operations to strengthen combat readiness, he said in a statement.
Training will be carried out in accordance with international law in international waters, the Department of Defense added, without providing details.
“This operation allows us to improve our credible capabilities, convince our allies and partners, and show our determination as a navy to ensure regional stability and counter-defamatory influence,” he quoted Rear Admiral JT Anderson, the commander of the strike group led by USS Abraham Lincoln said.
Both operator groups were reported on Sunday by the US Navy to exercise with the Japanese Navy in the Philippine Sea, areas covering the waters east of Taiwan.
News about US operations to coincide with Taiwan reported the latest mass attack by the Chinese Air Force to the air defense identification zone – 39 aircraft – in areas close to the Pratise Islands which was controlled by Taiwan in the northern range of the South China Sea.
Taiwan on Monday reported 13 other Chinese aircraft in the zone, with one Y-8 submarine, flew through the Bashi channel that separated Taiwan from the Philippines and connected the Pacific to the South China Sea, according to the map provided by the Taiwan Defense Ministry.
The ministry added that two Chinese J-16Ds took part in the mission, although it remained close to the beach of China, the new electronic attack version of J-16 fighters designed to target anti-aircraft defenses, Taiwan will depend on fending off attacks.
China has not commented, but previously said the mission aims to protect its sovereignty and to prevent external interference in its sovereignty claims for democratically ruled Taiwan.
Previous security sources told Reuters that Chinese flights to the Taiwan defense zone were also likely to be a response to foreign military activities, especially by US forces, near the island, to warn that Beijing supervised and had the ability to handle every Taiwan contingency.
Taiwan said Warfare “Gray Zone” nearby recurring, designed to defeat Taiwanese troops by making him repeatedly scrambling, and also to test Taiwanese responses.
The South China Sea, crossed by vital shipping lines and also contains rich gas and fishing fields, also claimed by Taiwan, while Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippine claims spare parts.
