WASHINGTON: Biden Administration on Sundays Momanti 18 aircraft from six commercial airleasers for AirLift National and American allies from Afghanistan amid non-stop crises in Kabul where the Taliban continued to pose with evacuation efforts.
Orders for aircraft needs come from the Department of Defense, which requested the provisions of Fleet Civil Reservoir (CRAF) created after World War II to access “commercial air mobility resources.” The program, arising from Berlin AirLift, involves promises by private airlines to lend aircraft to the Pentagon within 24 hours after activation.
Commercial aircraft will not fly to Kabul airport but instead used “for passenger movements as high as from Havens while safe and temporary staging bases,” Pentagon said in a statement, showing that they would be used for the Evakary of Pit Stop in the Gulf Countries.
The aircraft requested included included three of each of the American airlines, Atlas water, delta airways and Omni air; two of Hawaii Airlines; and four of the United Airlines.
The US so far evacuated by only around 2,500 Americans from Kabul during the past week, and an estimated 15,000 Americans and more than 50,000 Afghan allies still need to be flown.
The Taliban did not make it easy, with reports of obstacles and threats faced by those who want to leave Afghanistan.
US officials admit that Americans have a “hard meeting” with the Taliban in trying to get to the airport.
There are several talks about US power that exceeded the airport limit to facilitate evacuation but the general approach has become one of the warnings and does not want to provoke a shootout.
President Biden is expected to overcome this problem again after he cancels a vacation vacation scheduled for Saturday after extensive criticism of the handling of his government crisis.
A CBS News poll showed nearly 75% of respondents said the US withdrawal from Afghanistan had become poor (30%) or very bad (44%), although the majority (63%) supported the withdrawal of US troops.
