Washington: President Joe Biden is to nominate Vermont judges who play an important role in opening the way for legalizing same-sex marriage to become the first LGBT woman to present in any federal circuit court.
The White House announced Thursday that Biden had knocked Beth Robinson, the Justice Associate in Vermont Supreme Mahks since 2011, to serve in the US appeals court for the 2nd circuit.
The court area includes Connecticut, New York and Vermont.
In 1999, before he was appointed to Vermont Supreme Mahks, Robinson helped debate the case that caused Vermont civil union laws, the first law recognition in the country with the same sex – a forerunner of gay marriage.
Robinson served as advice to Governor Vermont Peter Shumlin, a Democrat, from 2010 to 2011.
From 1993 to 2010, Robinson was a civilian litigator in private practice in Langrock Sperry & Wool where he focused on employment law, contract compensation, and family regulations .
Robinson previously worked in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington, D.C., focused on the white collar criminal defense.
He was a legal officer for Judge David Sentelle at the US Appeals Court for Columbia District from 1989 to 1990.
The White House also announced that Biden was to nominate Law Law Law Charlotte Sweeney for the US District Court in Colorado.
He will become the first LGBT woman openly to serve as a federal district court judge in any state in Mississippi.
Biden has so far announced 35 judicial nominations to serve on the federal bench.
